You know there's something wrong in the instant coffee world when the cheaper option is so much better than the expensive one.
Take this for example: G7 Coffee Ca Phe Thu Thiet tastes so much better than Starbucks' Via Instant Colombia.
G7's offering can cost as low as Php 419 for 50 packets of instant coffee on shopee. That's Php 8.38 a packet. Starbucks VIA Instant isn't really available on the same site but is available as Php 599 for 12 packets or Php 50 apiece.
Don't get me wrong, Starbucks' instant coffee tastes so much better than a regular Nescafe sachet of the same size. But it doesn't justify 10 times the price of a Nescafe instant coffee. However, the G7 beats the flavor of the 3-in-1 of the same, aforementioned brand. In all the latter's iterations. For cost, I've found that local sari-sari stores charge Php 8-15 for a packet of instant coffee so buying this is preferrable to most 3-in-1's readily available, even at slightly higher prices.
G7 is a sweet yet strong, coffee that tastes more like coffee than most 3-in-1's available. I'd recommend a lot of people to try this and taste the difference.
Honestly, this country has a lot more problems than the problem of instant coffee. But it's sad nonetheless that even local offerings can't compare to imports in terms of price or quality. Still, while I hope the country improves its offerings, I think it would take a bigger market shift for that to happen. So let your taste buds try better coffee this 2021 with this G7 Coffee and hope the country follows after.
