I never thought I'd make a dedicated post about this, but due to my recent experience, I just want to reinforce the fact that not all nail polish removers are equal. And not just due to the price. I know there are some expensive ones out there with allegedly better formulations with skin saving ingredients, but I've never bought them because I do cheap out on remover.
It never really hit me how different nail polish removers could be at the lower price point until my recent purchase of the Pretty Secret Nail Polish remover without checking its ingredients.
It claims to have Scented Acetone and it worked quite well... until I was around half a bottle in and found myself really needing to work it in until... it stopped working at all!
I ended up buying a regular Bobbie Nail polish remover and found out the difference:
BOBBIE: Acetone, Aqua etc
PRETTY SECRET: Ethyl Alcohol, Acetone
The amount of acetone makes a difference at the end of the bottle. While the Pretty Secret acetone did have glycerin, it was failing its primary purpose: removing my polish.
Granted, my experience may be different if I use a lot of polish and finish a bottle quickly, but If you want effective to the last: go for the classic acetone filled ones.
